Kitchen Floor After
Watching the kitchen cabinets, tile and bathroom go in was so much fun. They make such a transformation. Oh, but the floors!!! It’s like every step is a complete turn around. I can’t wait to finally say, “we’re done” and post all the before and after pictures. In the meantime, though, check out the difference in the before and after floors.
When they tore out the old tile in the kitchen, we had a couple of major issues with the floor. They had to repair the joists and the floor deck as well as level the floor. It was leaning a bit. The marble rolled down hill and hit the wall. So the guys went to work and got it all leveled up, while Mark and I took off to locate tile. We picked out some gorgeous tile, and followed the large oblong tile with some smaller oblongs of the same color in the bathroom. It’s hard to see from these snap shots, but they are very pretty.
Next, we hired a flooring time to refinish the existing hard wood floors. As you can see from the pics, they were in tact buried underneath a plush mauve carpet that smelled of years of dog urine. These were taken out, and the smell was treated, then the refinishers showed up. They stripped the existing wood and applied a medium-dark stain and lacquer. As you can see from the pictures, the results are gorgeous. Zoom in on the grain of the wood. Someone will be very happy with this home once we finally get it complete.
We are very close, but our remodeler needed a break after a bout with the flu, so he’s out of town. Our goal is to get this little beauty on the market later next week. There are finishing touches on the exterior, such as power wash and new shutters and landscaping. Inside, we still have a couple of light fixtures, new quarter-round around the floor since the installers tore it up, and some odds and ends and clean up. Part of me is nostalgic to keep it forever, and the other part of me wants to get this little beauty completed and sold. We are actively looking for new properties. If you have a house to sale or wholesale, please give us a call or send us an email! We have a goal to purchase and remodel several homes this year. It’s time to get things moving! 816-866-1332 or [email protected].
